Camberley Manor Care Home were joined by members of the TLC family for the opening of their memorial garden yesterday, May 12th. The small family ceremony was hosted in honour of the new memorial garden within the home. The space was created by the team and residents at Camberley Manor to honour members of the TLC family and pay homage to those who have safely passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. The vibrant, green space acts as a tribute, not only to their time with us, but the legacies that they have left behind. Residents are the heart and soul of our family, keeping us inspired and passionate each and every day. During the opening ceremony, a special honour was given for nurse Helena Martins, who worked with TLC Care since 2017 and unfortunately passed on earlier this year.
Helena was described as a ‘mother figure’ for all of the care team and provided constant training and support to the younger team members at Camberley. Having joined the TLC family as a nurse, Helena’s compassionate nature and meticulous skills led to a fast-tracked career path to becoming a Unit Manager within the care home. Since joining TLC, Helena became a fast favourite to both the residents and team, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of meeting her. As we emerge through the pandemic and lockdown measures begin to ease, the team organised the event and memorial garden to show their unwavering respect for those who we’ve lost from the TLC Care family.

Lorna Badrick, COO at TLC Care, was joined by Dr. Arthur, resident of Camberley Manor Care Home, in cutting a ribbon to mark the official opening of the home’s memorial garden space. Following an array of heartfelt speeches from members of the team and residents, an intimate drinks reception was held with delicious and beautifully crafted canapes, courtesy of our culinary team.
Lorna Badrick commented: “The memorial garden is a fantastic way to remember the residents and our nurse, Helena, who sadly passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s a wonderful and personal initiative from our team at Camberley Manor, showcasing how our TLC family live by our values of truth, love and compassion every day. Not only will the garden pay tribute to those who are no longer with us, but enhance the beautiful spaces for present and future residents who join us in our home. It was a heartfelt and personal opening ceremony, offering our continued respect, support and care for our residents and their loved ones. Our ceremony was also a chance for us to share our thanks to the team for their unwavering efforts, commitment and continued kindness during the pandemic; and in this new phase in which we redefine our sense of ‘normality’. I’m incredibly proud of the genuine selflessness and compassion our teams hold – well done to the TLC family.”
